About
H.E.R. stands for Hip hop in its Essence and Real. This blog serves to promote hip hop culture in general and encourages both the listening to and the buying of hip hop records. The main bulk of this blog will be reviews of albums both old and new. However, there will be other entries on which will be posted up almost anything having to do with our genre of choice.

Hey, my name is Matt Conaway, I saw your review of Vast Aire’s “Dueces Wild”–thank you for that! I was hoping to get your e-mail address and physical mailing address so that I could start sending you press releases and audio (MP3 and streams) and physical press kits for the artists I represent. I typically work 4-5 projects a month and right now I am working Kidz In The Hall, Buckshot//9th Wonder, Joe Budden, Tame One, The Knux, Vast Aire, Team Blackout, Vordul Mega and soon I will be working projects from Greg Street, Peddi Crakk, Common Market, Termanology, OC & AG LP, Heltah Skeltah and DJ Revolution.
Hope to hear from you soon…
Hey man, really liking your taste in hip hop and I agree, T-Pain and auto tune, as well as Souljah boy, are some of the worst things to happen to hip hop in a while. Lil Wayne’s so distinctive with his flow and cadence but he’s long since sold out with his tour and that horrendous Let It Rock song, amid other crappy tracks on Tha Carter III. Rappers shoudl stay away from R n B, as De La Soul once said, it’s nothing but rhythm and bullshit.
Tell me how this new Mighty Underdogs album is, I’m a big fan of Ambush by Maroons, Latyrx, and Blazing Arrow, I have big expectations. And fill out your 80s and 90s reviews! You did a good job but there are soooo many amazing releases in all of the years you’ve posted. If you’ve never checked out Organized Konfusion’s Stress the Extinction Agenda, please do, it’s one of the best. and where’s any De La? Black Sheep? any more Native Tongues? Also I’d love to see some materiel on Hieroglyphics, Del, Souls of Mischief, and Madlib n J Dilla. You forgot all the Cali hip hop!
Much love and good job man, it’s ncie to know someone else has an appreciation for hip hop at its finest. And I agree, Midnight Maruauders is better than the previous 2.
Peace, SB
