Just My Random Hip Hop Thought of the Day

Published by ckojota at 2:18 pm under Random Edit This

A couple of days ago, I went onto hiphopdx looking to see if any new tracks of interest had come up since I last checked. After listening to some sucktastic song by the RZA and hoping that the rest of his new album won’t sound like that, I stumbled onto a little blib about Ice-T. Now, Ice-T, pioneer gangster rapper or not, hasn’t been doing much these past couple of years besides his regular role on Law & Order (I find that just a bit ironic). So, with the sincere wish that it would be about a new album or something like that, I looked into it. And there it was. The first line of the article was, “Fuck Soulja Boy! Eat a dick! This nigga single handedly killed Hip Hop.”

Now, as hilarious as that may be at first glance, it’s not long before you realize it’s also just as sad. I mean, I’m no defender of Souljah Boy and I laughed my ass the hell off when a little boy threw a brick through his tour bus window screaming “Souljah Boy killed good music!” and I would love to see his career die, but this is not the way to do it. I mean, seriously? Eat a dick? How old are you now Ice? Just cause Souljah Boy is in his teens, doesn’t mean you gotta act like you are as well.

Also, bad as he is, Souljah Boy did not single handedly kill hip hop. That’s just giving him too much credit. I’m convinced now that the problem with hip hop these days doesn’t just lie with the “hey you’re drunk, let’s get crunk and let me put my junk in your trunk” rappers. Yes they are probably the root of all the degeneration. But at the same time, why aren’t these rappers, doing anything about it? Instead of wasting your time hurling 7th grade insults at the mainstream, why not make a dis track? Better yet, if you think these new rappers suck so much, do something positive about it. Educate the bastards. If hip hop is dying, the veteran rappers shouldn’t just be complaining about it. Ice-T better drop a fucking classic on our asses within a year or so, or he would’ve lost all respect in my eyes. Souljah Boy’s songs may be trash, but at least the dude’s making songs! Get your ass off that TV show, bring it into the booth, start recording, and give us some quality to bump.

My second thought of the day will be a lot lighter I swear. So for all my readers that were scared off by the last post, please come back. Haha, my second thought of the day is this: the Wolverine movie is gonna be sick!!!!!!!! I know, I know. Looks like it got nothing to do with hip hop but it’ll all connect in time. Just be patient.

So…why do I think it’s gonna be sick? Well, first off, the obvious reason is that the story revolves around Wolverine, who is one of the coolest characters in the Marvel universe. This one’s gonna be as dark as Buck Nasty. Second, the cast of characters that are to be involved in this movie is nothing short of amazing. Two of the notables that have me going nuts are also some of the coolest ever. The first of the two is Gambit. Yeahhh boy. I know there were a lot of X-Men fans who were disappointed (myself included) when Gambit never once appeared during the course of three movies. Well, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. The second character is Deadpool. Most people don’t really know who he is so I’ll demonstrate with a picture.

Holy smokes Batman! He’s got more gadgets than you! Yeah, not to mention he has near perfect aim. O and Wolverine’s healing abilities. As for the rest of the characters, it’s a who’s who of Wolverine’s old Weapon X teammates, including Silver Fox, his lover. Strangely enough, Maverick and Mastodon don’t appear, but who really cares. As long as the movie doesn’t royally screw Gambit and Deadpool up somehow, I’ll be satisfied.

O and I did promise that I would tie this all in to hip hop somehow so here it is. One of Wolverine’s old teammates is a mutant named Kestrel, whose teleporting powers would put Nightcrawler to shame. Anyways, the role of Kestrel is to played by none other than will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas fame.

Do you see it??? Yeah…me neither.
